The Sony GDM-17SE2T Multiscan 17SE is a vintage CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitor that offers a unique blend of nostalgia and high-quality performance. This 17-inch Trinitron tube monitor is a testament to Sony's engineering excellence and its commitment to delivering exceptional viewing experiences.
The GDM-17SE2T features a 17-inch Trinitron tube, which is known for its ability to provide a wide viewing angle, vivid colors, and crisp detail. The Trinitron technology uses a three-gun design, which separates red, green, and blue signals to produce a more accurate color reproduction. This results in a picture that is rich in color, with deep blacks and bright whites, making it ideal for watching movies, playing games, or working on graphic design projects.
The monitor's Multiscan feature allows it to support various signal inputs, including VGA, composite video, and S-video. This versatility makes it compatible with a wide range of devices, such as computers, game consoles, and DVD players. The monitor also comes with a D-Sub (VGA) input, which allows for a simple and straightforward connection to modern computers.
The GDM-17SE2T is equipped with a horizontal and vertical hold control, as well as a brightness and contrast adjustment. These features allow users to fine-tune the monitor's settings to achieve the optimal picture quality for their specific needs. The monitor also features a built-in speaker, which provides basic audio output.
The monitor's design is simple yet elegant, with a black matte finish and a sleek, modern look. It has a sturdy base and adjustable stand that allows for tilt adjustment, ensuring that the monitor can be positioned at the perfect angle for comfortable viewing.
In conclusion, the Sony GDM-17SE2T Multiscan 17SE is a high-performance CRT monitor that offers a unique blend of vintage charm and modern functionality. Its Trinitron tube technology provides a rich and vibrant picture, while its Multiscan feature allows for versatile connectivity options. With its adjustable stand and built-in speaker, this monitor is a great choice for anyone looking for a high-quality CRT monitor that can handle a variety of tasks.
Pros of buying Sony GDM-17SE2T Multiscan 17SE 17 Trinitron Tube CRT Monitor:1. Superior Image Quality: CRT monitors are known for their vibrant colors, sharp contrast, and fast response times. The Trinitron technology used in this Sony monitor further enhances these qualities, providing a high-quality viewing experience.
2. Durability: CRT monitors are generally more durable than their flat-screen counterparts. They don't have the fragile screens that can easily get damaged, and the components used in CRT monitors are less likely to fail over time.
3. No Screen Burn-in: Unlike some flat-screen monitors, CRT monitors do not suffer from screen burn-in, where images displayed for extended periods can leave permanent ghost images on the screen.
4. No Pixelation: CRT monitors do not have the pixelated appearance that can be noticeable on some flat-screen monitors, especially when viewing text or graphics up close.
Cons of buying Sony GDM-17SE2T Multiscan 17SE 17 Trinitron Tube CRT Monitor:1. Size and Weight: CRT monitors are larger and heavier than flat-screen monitors, which can make them more difficult to move around and may require more space.
2. Energy Consumption: CRT monitors consume more electricity than flat-screen monitors, which can lead to higher energy costs.
3. Limited Resolution: While CRT monitors can display high resolutions, they are not able to display the extremely high resolutions that modern flat-screen monitors can.
4. Limited Connectivity: CRT monitors typically have fewer connection options than modern flat-screen monitors, which can limit the types of devices you can connect to the monitor.
Ending Conclusion:The Sony GDM-17SE2T Multiscan 17SE 17 Trinitron Tube CRT Monitor offers a superior image quality, durability, and no risk of screen burn-in compared to flat-screen monitors. However, its larger size, higher energy consumption, limited resolution, and limited connectivity options are significant drawbacks.
If you are primarily looking for a monitor for gaming or graphic design where high resolution and fast response times are important, a flat-screen monitor would likely be a better choice. However, if you value the vibrant colors and sharp contrast of a CRT monitor and are not concerned about its size, weight, or energy consumption, the Sony GDM-17SE2T could be a good option for you.
Recommendation:If you are in the market for a CRT monitor, the Sony GDM-17SE2T Multiscan 17SE 17 Trinitron Tube CRT Monitor is a solid choice due to its high-quality image and durability. However, it is important to consider whether the drawbacks of a CRT monitor outweigh its benefits for your specific needs and preferences.
Bought from original owner. I pack all CRTs with 3-4 inches of very dense paper fill on sides. I am unsure if this monitor is compatible with winds. Everything works, no cracks are in the plastic anywhere, not even a blemish or scrape.
The anti-glare coating is in 7/10 condition. Comes with standard power cable and vga. Nonetheless, it does not need tuning and the geometry is perfect when used at standard resolutions. You cannot adjust the geometry in a more detailed way, those are only controls you get.
The exterior of the monitor is in like-new condition with only mild yellowing. I particularly like to run it in 1024x768 at 90hz. There are some hairline scratches that don't affect the actual coating and there is one very small blemish towards bottom far left side of face tube. I am unsure of this sets value as i've seen no other model's identical to it listed.
Please feel free to make an offer.
